"A celebration of life."
Whether participating in dance, Tai Chi, cards, bingo, or shaking it to Zumba -- the latest Latin aerobic dance craze, Middletown Senior Center members have proven this is less a feel-good slogan on the sign out front, but more a motto to live by.
Located at 650 Green End Avenue, the Middletown Senior Center brings seniors together for good company, along with a daily nutritious and low-cost or free lunch, AARP seminars and other guest speakers, competitive card play, gardening, art and photography classes, exercise groups, organized trips, and more.
And on some mornings, there's virtual bowling on the Wii, recently proven to yield various beneficial affects on seniors, according to one recent UC Davis study.
Health & wellness classes, visiting nurses services, driver education, financial planning seminars and more round out the offerings.
The facility, renovated in 1990 from the old Berkeley School, includes A main hall for dining and activities, library and sitting area, outdoor serenity garden and vegetable garden, computer lab, billiard room, card room, and state-of-the-art kitchen.
Additionally, a Gift Shop is open Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.
