Oak Lawn Community Library Foundation, established in 1993, is a nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of community members. It provides individuals and businesses to make contributions in support of library programs, materials and services. It offers various services, including commemorative gifts to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, exceptional service by library staff and memorial donations. The library foundation organizes special events, including the annual stay home and read a book ball and grocery store shopping campaigns throughout the year. It offers a variety of adult programs, such as traditional Chinese medicine, women s self-defense, understanding Medicare and Medicaid and Chicago genealogy. The library foundation also provides a variety of community services, such as free health screenings and free computer classes. It organizes various informal meetings that consist of readings, critiques and writing exercises.
