The Swiss Sportsman Club of Bonney Lake is a sprawling, members-only recreation park that has been part of Bonney Lake for the last 52 years. It is the result of the Tacoma Schwinger Club and Tacoma Swiss Rifle Club merger in 1958. To be a member of the Swiss Sportsman Club, you must be of Swiss origin or descent. You can also apply if you're married to a Swede. The group hosts numerous events and parties throughout the year, including Octoberfest, a masquarde ball, crab feeds, poker tournaments and more. Some events are open to the public, but typically you must be a member, or invited by a member, to attend.
While the grounds are open to members only, the buildings on site can be rented out to the public. Weddings, family reunions, fundraisers and countless other events are held on the grounds every year. The Main Hall features a full bar, dance floor and stage, and fit 400 people. The second hall can seat 150 and has a large kitchen.
Non-members can rent RV campsites for vacation or short-term contracts, too. There are 86 RV spots altogether - 30 full hook-up and the rest are self-service.
The outdoor stadium is dedicated to Schwingfest - a large annual Swiss wrestling tournament. The stage and bleachers are commonly rented out for weddings. There are horeshoe pits, volleyball and basketball courts on the grounds, and the club hosts shooting and marksmanship events. Wooded trails weave through the property.
