Macrina Bakery

Macrina Bakery & Caf , located in Belltown, Wash., offers a variety of bread and pastry items, soups, sandwiches and cakes. Its menu items include roasted duck tartines, poached egg salad, waffles, French toast and egg sandwiches. It also offers box lunch specials and catering services. Macrina was opened in 1993 by Leslie Mackie-one of the most esteemed figures on the national artisan baking scene. The bakery s products are also found in grocery stores and gourmet shops throughout the Northwest United States. Macrina has been written up in Sunset & Pacific magazines, Bon Appetite, The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. It has also received coverage and accolades in The Seattle Times, Seattle Weekly and Seattle Magazine. Leslie's recipes reach well beyond Seattle, from her appearances on Julia Child's 'Baking with Julia' television series to a 1999 outstanding contributor award from the James Beard Foundation. Macrina operates a second location on Queen Avenue in Seattle.
