Founded in 1943, the Kitsap County Health District is a public health agency that offers disease prevention and family planning services. Located in Bremerton, Wash., the agency also provides assessment, immunization and health promotion services. It administers the Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) program, which is a federally funded program that includes consulting, referral and resource coordination services for children with special developmental needs. In addition, the Kitsap County Health District conducts inspections of public swimming pools and spas, as well as investigates drowning incidents. The agency offers medical assistance, child care and in-home services. The Kitsap County Health District additionally provides educational and support services.
