The Columbia Evangelical Seminary was established in 1991, providing a distance-learning program that serves students who would like to pursue a college degree but are otherwise unable to attend a traditional institution.
According to the Seminary's website, students can choose from study areas including apologetics, biblical studies, missions, the postmodern or emergent church, philosophy, theology, or an interdisciplinary program combing several areas of interest.
The model of the distance-learning program enables students to design their own curriculum and proceed at their own pace. A network of up to 60 faculty mentors supports the students who currently reside in areas of the United States as well as in Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and South Africa.
Because this is a distance-learning program, the Seminary maintains an office within The Summit Church at 920 Roosevelt Avenue in Enumclaw.
