Established in June of 1959, the Kay Rock Bit Company developed and patented the drag bit, which caused the initial growth of the company in the early years. In the early 1960s, the company also developed a percussion button bit. All of its bits are one-piece constructions of alloy steel forged or cast with carbide cutting tips and gauge sides to insure long life through some of the toughest drilling formations. All of the bits carbide tips are silver soldered to the bit wing to insure a strong bond that will not easily shear or break when drilling through hard rock. The company s products include wing bits, Kay hard and soft formation bits, Chevron type bits, Step type bits, Kelly bits, assembly bits, percussion bits, left hand drag bits, retract button bits, X bits, drill pipe and threads. Kay Rock Bit Company is located in Austin, Texas.
