HistoryThe focus of my practice is trauma and trauma related struggles. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy which is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. I am also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or (ACT) which I use in conjunction with EMDR therapy. ACT is a form of therapy that is based on Psychological Flexibility and a persons individual Values. Using these two therapy methods I strive to help my clients learn to break free from struggles and past experiences and overcome ineffective behavior patterns that bind and prevent them from living a meaningful and enjoyable life. Prior to pursuing my education in professional counseling and psychology I was on active duty in the United States Navy for 22 years where I gained a wealth of knowledge about the world and the people in it. As a professional counselor I combine my formal education with a lot of life experience to provide my clients a genuine transformative environment based on both clinically tested and proven methods and common-sense approaches. I believe counseling is a collaborative process between the therapist and the client and it is thru this collaboration that healing, and change can take place.
