The Fort Chadbourne Foundation was established by Garland and Lana Richards in February 1999. They have opened up this historic site so they could preserve, protect and present the history of Fort Chadbourne to the public. They say they could not have done this without their donors, volunteers and employees!
Specialties
Fort Chadbourne is a military frontier fort established in 1852 established by the US Infantry. It was officially abandoned in 1867. Many famous people served at the Fort. The building have been stabilized and/or restored. There is a 12,500 sq ft visitors center that houses many artifacts, antique gun collections, stagecoach, cannons, etc. Great part of Texas History located on a ranch that has been together for 8 generations. All this has been done with non governmental funds. Donations help keep this historic site open.
