J. Nathaniel Sanderson, MD, FACC is Board Certified in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. He practices at South Texas Cardiovascular Consultants. Dr. Sanderson believes that prevention--both before and after Cardiology has been diagnosed--is the key to a healthy life. It's crucial that patients understand that techniques such as balloon angioplasty, coronary stent placement and even bypass surgery do not cure Cardiology. When counseling patients, Dr. Sanderson says that interventional therapies, for the most part, just buy time. Patients must make the effort to change the lifestyle choices that contribute to Cardiology: smoking, overeating, lack of exercise, poor cholesterol control, and poor diabetes control. A former college linebacker, Dr. Sanderson entered the United States Air Force Academy. He played football-as 10th alternate, he admits, and completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a plan to pursue a career in orthopaedics. He studied medicine at University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis, Tennessee, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. During his initial exposure to cardiology during his residency, he quickly became fascinated by the ability to leave a patient's bedside with a diagnosis and a plan of care. He completed his fellowship in Cardiology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. He is experienced in balloon angioplasty, stent deployment and atherectomy in the treatment of cardiac and peripheral arteries. Currently, he practices preventive and therapeutic cardiology and performs minimally-invasive, transcatheter atrial septal defect closures and peripheral vascular interventions, cardiac catheterization and intravascular ultrasound. He lives and practices in Kerrville and also at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Obinna Isiguzo, MD, FACC is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease with additional board certifications in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He practices with South Texas Cardiovascular Consultants.
