about our firm The Firm, originally known as Harwell, Bottoms & Plant, was formed in 1974 and included, along with Mr. Plant, the late Judge William A. "Bud" Harwell and present District Attorney General Thomas M. Bottoms. Bottoms assumed the office of District Attorney General in 1982, and for a long while thereafter the Firm was known simply as Harwell & Plant. Mr. Williams joined the Firm in 2000, and in 2002 the Firm took its present name of Harwell, Plant & Williams. The Firm prides itself in its consistency of quality representation and its ability to adapt to its clients' needs in an ever changing society. While it continues to take full advantage of the more traditional methods of practice and preparation and the continued excellence from its members and staff, the Firm has dedicated itself to utilizing and developing new technological advances and resources, including local area networking, document imaging and online research, to continue to provide the effective service our clientele demands and has grown to expect. The Firm practices generally in Middle Tennessee and North Alabama. The primary emphasis of the Firm is civil litigation, representing both plaintiffs and the defendants in personal injury and commercial law. The Firm practices heavily in the areas of insurance defense, banking, real estate, criminal law, domestic relations and family law, estate planning, probate, and small business law. The Firm has been awarded the prestigious "AV" ranking by Martindale and Hubbell. In addition, the Firm is listed in the Martindale and Hubbell Bar Register for Preeminent Lawyers for its insurance defense and real estate practices. In addition to excellent service to its clients, the Firm has long been an advocate of service to the community, and is also listed in Martindale-Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
