The Suncoast Symphony Orchestra, based in Clearwater, FL, is a renowned ensemble that has been making music for over 36 years. As a member of the Pinellas Arts Foundation and the Clearwater Arts Alliance, the orchestra is dedicated to promoting and supporting the arts in the community.

Comprised of talented musicians who generously donate their time, the orchestra offers a vibrant and diverse repertoire, showcasing their passion and commitment to excellence. With openings in various sections, including strings and percussion, the orchestra welcomes musicians who are interested in joining their ranks. Rehearsals, led by conductor John Bannon, take place on Wednesday evenings, providing an opportunity for musicians to come together and create beautiful music at Grace Lutheran Church.

The American Federation of Musicians, or AFM, is a labor and trade union of professional musicians and artists established in 1896 to help represent performing musicians in finding work and in collective bargaining efforts with recording companies, performance venues, and other avenues of the profession. The AFM also is involved extensively in protecting ownership of recorded music, securing benefits such as health care and pension for working musicians, as well as lobbying our legislators and more. This particular outpost of the AFM upholds many of these principals and purposes of the national organization, and also helps local musicians find paying gigs and network throughout the local music community. It is located in the same building as Central Music and Granny's Auction House, right off of Ulmerton Road in Clearwater.
