History
In 1947, Historic Charleston Foundation was incorporated as an educational, not-for-profit preservation organization. Its rich history includes so many award-winning accolades for fiscally responsible work on the restoration and preservation of countless historic properties through the nation's first Revolving Fund, the establishment of an easement program for historic homeowners, the establishment of one of America's oldest and most prestigious heritage tours (Festival of Houses and Gardens) and so much more in areas of advocacy, education and preservation to foster an appreciation and understanding of the importance of historic culture in a modern world.
