Design Lite Studio was founded by Cheryl McGaffey in 1991. The business was small and specialized in commission work from her home studio. She also began teaching classes through the Tualatin Parks and Recreation District the same year. Joined in 1998 by Mom and business partner Pat McGaffey, the studio was expanded to its present size and location. With the extra square footage the business has improved facilities for a broader range of inventory, work space, fusing kilns, space for student classes and project storage. Design Lite Studio primarily teaches the stained glass technique called copper foiling. It is very flexible for design purposes, easy to learn and creates beautiful permanent items for home or business. Designs can be drawn from available pattern books, magazine pictures, a treasured photo or your imagination. We have also started Fusing classes in the studio. We now have 2 kilns for student projects and are teaching and learning along with our students. Within the Design Lite Studio site, you will find information on our work, class schedules, products for sale, pictures of some work we have done, student pictures and information on the Soil free plant system.
