Glacial Grooves State Memorial, located on the north side of Kelleys Island in Ohio, offers a unique natural attraction for visitors. Carved into solid limestone bedrock around 18,000 years ago by a massive ice sheet, the grooves span a remarkable 400 feet in length, 35 feet in width, and up to 10 feet in depth. This geological wonder showcases the enduring impact of ancient glacial movements on the landscape.
The Devonian limestone hosting the grooves also boasts marine fossils dating back 350 to 400 million years, adding a fascinating historical dimension to the site. Preservation efforts include protective fencing around this National Natural Landmark, ensuring its conservation for future generations. Visitors can explore the grooves via a walkway and stairs, providing an up-close look at this remarkable natural phenomenon.

In the area be sure to stop!! Couldn't check in as no an available cell service. Not a lengthy trail but sure worth the time. Well documented boards with explanations of this historical phenomenon.

Still under construction so you can't walk all the way around. Still cool to see. It looks like they have added no signage as well so it will be exciting to see it when it is finished.
