The city of Shaker Heights has been around since 1912 and was first owned by the North Union Community. Today this community is full of friendly neighbors, great schools, a recreation center, shopping, dining and a local government. The City Hall building was built in 1930 and is the site of community resources such as city jobs openings, announcements, meetings, city services, business developments and offices of the city government. Within the city of Shaker Heights can be found strong multicultural communities and historic districts. Larchmere is a well-known historic district full of antique shops and consignments stores. Shaker Square has boutiques, beauty salons, fine dining and other retailers. Shaker Heights is known for its luxurious homes, condos and apartment living. It is located near the inner city, on the RTA rail line, with easy to access many of the local hospitals and colleges. This city has its own natural beauty and is a productive place to do business. The appearance is rich, and the atmosphere is pleasant, forming a very welcoming community.
