History
In 2001, Marc Dreyfors helped start The Forest Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance, training, and services in green economic development. TFF partners with: (1) Green Oil Company, collecting vegetable oil waste from local businesses to be processed into biofuel; (2) Carolina Biodiesel, helping community members buy and use biofuel; and (3) Greenway Transit, the first and only green transport company in the Southeast whose vehicles run exclusively on biofuels. Together they form the GOAL model based on a waste to fuel to transportation model. Since 2008, Greenway has brought business to the community, creating dozens of jobs (as vendors, contractors, drivers, mechanics, managers, and technicians), teaching hundreds of community members about sustainability through a green jobs training program, and providing biofuel distribution and transportation services for thousands of people each month.
