Colin Paul Smith, MD, is a dedicated family physician. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed his Family Medicine Residency at ECU Family Medicine. Prior to medical school, Dr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University and served in the U.S. Army as a registered nurse. Before joining Physicians East Urgent Care Center, Dr. Smith worked as a physician at Vidant Family Medicine in Chocowinity, North Carolina. There, he provided comprehensive care in a rural community, addressing both acute and chronic conditions. His practice encompassed prevention and wellness, women’s and children’s health, wilderness and travel medicine, and a wide range of office procedures for patients of all ages. Dr. Smith has a diverse professional background, including significant roles in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings In the Army, Dr. Smith served in the Emergency Department at Womack Army Medical Center as well as with the 28th Combat Support Hospital. His military career also includes deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Joint Task Force-Katrina. In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Smith is an Eagle Scout and has a passion for hiking, camping, karate, and blacksmithing. He and his wife are parents to two amazing school-aged sons.
