Charles E. Sohns, son of J.A.A., entered the business after his graduation from Walden High School at the young age of 15. Under Charles the business grew steadily adding televisions and appliances along the way. The first television set was shown by Sohns in 1939, although only a prototype. Charles' son Jeffrey entered the business full time in 1962 upon his graduation from SUNY Albany. Two expansions have taken place since that time making Sohns one of the Hudson Valley's largest independent appliance outlets. John Sohns, the fourth generation, entered the business in 1989 upon his graduation from Marist College where many more expansions have taken place since then. John, being named president of Sohns Appliance Center in 2002, looks forward to continuing this great legacy that the family has carried on for over 100 years now with great enthusiasm.
