In 1980, O Connell Electric was selected as the prime electrical contractor for the construction of the Lake Placid Winter Olympics facilities, which included White Face Mountain. Founded in 1911, O'Connell Electric is a full-service regional contractor that serves the diverse electrical needs of a wide range of clients, including the chemical industry, manufacturing, public utility, governmental, retail and commercial markets. O Connell has more than $100 million of bonding capacity, as well as millions of dollars invested in tools, equipment and a vehicle fleet. In May 2003, O'Connell Electric purchased the assets of Syracuse Merit Electric central New York's premier electrical design and installation service contractor.
