Prachi Bakarania, Director of Physical Therapy of Spinal Deformity at Columbia Orthopedics, specializes in the non-operative and pre-op/post-op management of scoliosis, kyphosis, and spinal disorders for individuals throughout their lifespan, specializing in the Schroth and SEAS methods. She has been a part of the non-operative multidisciplinary team at Columbia Doctors since 2014. During her tenure at Columbia, Prachi has co-authored numerous publications surrounding the management of patients with scoliosis, kyphosis and other structural spinal disorders. She helped pioneer the pre-op and post-op program for both pediatric and adult patients who are about to undergo complex spinal surgery and organizes and moderates quarterly webinars and an annual CME. She works alongside a larger multidisciplinary team consisting of ortho/neurosurgeons, orthotists, pain psychologists, and pain management physicians. She currently serves on the SOSORT board and is their secretary. SOSORT stands for the International Society On Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment. It is a global scientific non-profit that strives to develop consensus surrounding treatment guidelines and publish scientific literature surrounding the non-operative management of scoliosis, kyphosis and other spine structural disorders. Prachi holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Boston University, Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She currently serves as the Director of PT of Spinal Deformity within Columbia Doctors. She is currently accepting patients at Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian/The Spiral located at Hudson Yards (W. 35th St and 10th Ave).
