Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council is a non-profit organization that represents Long Island's 24 not-for-profit hospitals and medical centers before lawmakers, regulatory agencies, the media and the public. It advocates for funding for hospitals and healthcare, in addition to offering assistance enrolling in New York State Healthcare.
The Facilitated Enrollment Service helps those in need sign up for Medicaid, Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus. It provides information to help determine eligibility or assistance filling out an application through a scheduled series of community events. These sign-up events operate on a first-come, first-served basis with appointments lasting approximately 20-30 minutes. Applicants are required to provide proof of identity, their home address, age and income.
