The beach is really nice for the outer drive on section. There isn't miles of beach so if you want to drive on then I'd recommend getting an early start. Not that you won't find a spot around...

I love to go off roading at Gilgo. They recently reopened the outer beach. There are a lot of surfers here. The beach is always empty. You do need a permit to get on and they do usually check.

Limited access beach. Beaches - we all love them except for the crowds. I am not a huge fan of any crowd situation - ever. Because of this, I tend to limit my trips to the south shore beaches...

Gilgo beach is one of the worst beaches I've ever been to. It doesn't even have a proper parking lot. A car can easily get stuck in the sand and I think is a danger hazard how close the water is...

Gilgo....what can I say besides your awesome beach is being swept away back into the Atlantic. Used to be so much room is now like a busy sidewalk in the city. If your not from Babylon Last time...
