History
In 1952, Rolly and Ella Cook bought the Dixie Bar that sits on the same address as what is now the Skyline. The Dixie Bar was as unique as the project it sponsored as it was definitely a family place where neighbors gathered to eat a sandwich, enjoy a drink and pleasant conversation, or just catch up on gossip, with Mom and Pop Cook. They were known for their delicious ham sandwiches, friendly atmosphere, and the weekly boxing match on the black and white television. John Ligouir bought the Dixie Bar when the Cooks retired in 1960. He renamed it Ligouiris' and kept the ham sandwiches flowing. In 1964, The Skyline Casino was built and established by John Ligouiri and Jospeh Antonio after successfully acquiring a gaming license for adding more games at the new location of their business. The opened with three 21 tables, one crap table, 30 slot machines, and two poker tables. The Grand opening was set for November 1st of that same year and was celebrated by a free buffet, free beer.
