About Ragtag Ragtag Cinema champions independent film and other media arts to stimulate and enrich the culture of our community. We are a 501 ( c ), community theater that showcases a variety of films and performing arts in a vibrant, inviting setting. As Columbia's premiere art house movie theater, Ragtag Cinema exhibits independent, international, and alternative documentary, narrative, and avant-garde films. We attend to film as a vital and fun art form. Many of our films are presented with personal appearances by filmmakers, critics, and scholars to foster film appreciation and stimulate discussion. Beyond movies, we regularly host an array of live music, theater, comedy, poetry readings, and multimedia art by local and touring artists. Ragtag Cinema is dedicated to enhancing the cultural environment of Columbia, MO. Thus, we value the dynamic, ever-evolving relationship we share with our audience. We are proud of the partnerships that we've developed with local nonprofits, schools, businesses, and other organizations. Our quality programming aims to both satisfy our community's wide range of tastes and interests and exhibit cutting-edge work of the present and past which otherwise would not be locally accessible. Ragtag Cinema is open nightly, year round except for a few holidays. Our box office opens half an hour before the first screening and closes just after the last screening begins. Our business office is open 9am 5pm, Monday Friday.
