American Bancorporation of Minnesota is the bank holding company for American National Bank of Minnesota. The bank was founded in 1983 and became state chartered the following year. It went on to open nine additional offices over the years in Baxter, St. Cloud, Fergus Falls, Alexandria, Pequot Lakes, Detroit Lakes, Walker, Elk River and Brainerd, Minn. American Heritage National Bank

American Heritage National Bank has constructed the Midwest's, and possibly the country's largest log bank (32,000 square feet). The main shell of the bank is constructed of three miles of lodge-pole pine cut at elevations above 9,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Each log was individually hand-peeled, notched and assembled in Colorado. Then the structure was disassembled, the logs numbered, loaded on trucks and transported to Minnesota to be reassembled. In 1947, People's National Bank purchased The Bank of Long Prairie. In 1995, the bank s name was changed to American Heritage National Bank. In 1999, a second banking office made of logs was erected on the East Side of St. Cloud, Minn. This office became American Heritage's fourth banking office.
