TWB Company, located in Monroe, Mich., is one of North America's premier suppliers of tailor-welded blanks, and manufactures more than 11 million blanks per year. Founded in 1992 as a joint venture between Worthington Industries and ThyssenKrupp Stahl, TWB provides customers with advanced technological support. Laser-welded blanks are two or more sheet metal blanks welded into a flat blank assembly. The blank welding process allows steel blanks of similar or dissimilar gauge, grade or coated to be joined into a single blank assembly, then formed as an integrated stamped assembly at the customer s facilities. The company s manufacturing process includes blanking, laser-welding, post-weld blanking, washing and reoiling, prototyping, equipment design, engineering, computer-aided designing, forming analysis and simulations, and materials expertise. Its services include application development, program and launch management, in-plant technical services, and electronic data interchange capability.
