Jon David Weingart, MD

Neurologist Kelly Mills cares for patients who have movement disorders such as ataxia, dystonia, Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism and tremor. He evaluates and manages patients needing advanced therapies, such as deep brain stimulation, focused ultrasound or medication infusions to manage their movement symptoms. Additionally, he provides botulinum toxin treatment for various disorders. Dr. Mills earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed residency training in neurology at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and remained there for fellowship training in movement disorders, which had a particular emphasis on deep brain stimulation to treat Parkinson’s disease, tremor and dystonia. Dr. Mills also holds a Master of Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. In his research, Dr. Mills explores the cognitive dysfunction that can occur in movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease. He is particularly interested in describing the role of the basal ganglia in cognition, especially in the context of various diseases that can affect this structure. His work focuses on clarifying how certain treatments might affect cognitive and psychiatric problems. He also works to develop new imaging biomarkers to detect mechanisms of disease, such as neuroinflammation in Parkinson’s disease.

Colonel James Ficke, M.D., is Robert A. Robinson Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and director of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also orthopaedist-in-chief of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is nationally renowned as an expert on the treatment of complex foot and ankle patients, lower extremity trauma patients and amputees.Dr. Ficke received his M.D. from Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in 1987. He completed a transitional internship at Madigan Army Medical Center, and finished his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center. He also completed an AO fellowship in Trauma in Munich Germany, and a foot and ankle fellowship in Dallas, Texas.Prior to his current position, Dr. Ficke was chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. He also served the U.S. Army Surgeon General as the senior advisor on policy and personnel for orthopaedics and extremity injuries for seven years.During his deployment as deputy commander of clinical services at the 228th Combat Support Hospital in Mosul, Iraq, from 2004 to 2005, he was the senior orthopedic surgeon, treating more than 600 U.S. soldiers and Iraqi patients for war injuries.Dr. Ficke has received numerous awards for his skills as a surgeon and educator, as well as two dozen military decorations and awards including the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals. His service earned him the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons’ prestigious 2010 Colonel Brian Allgood Memorial Leadership Award, and The Surgeon General's 2010 Major General Lewis Aspey Mologne Award.He has served as the co-chair of the Extremity War Injury Symposium sponsored by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 2005.

Sashank Reddy is an associate professor and vice chair of research in the Johns Hopkins Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He also serves as medical director for Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures. His areas of clinical expertise include craniofacial reconstruction, facial aesthetics and headache surgery.Dr. Reddy received his undergraduate degree with university honors from Johns Hopkins, where he pursued biology and humanistic studies as a Hodson Scholar. He went on to complete M.D. and Ph.D. studies at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the auspices of the National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist Training Program. Dr. Reddy then completed a residency in the Johns Hopkins/University of Maryland integrated plastic surgery training program, and a craniofacial fellowship at Johns Hopkins and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in July 2018.In addition to his clinical practice in plastic surgery, Dr. Reddy directs a research laboratory in regenerative medicine. Current studies center on mechanisms of regeneration and homeostasis in skin, and development of nanomaterials to support tissue regeneration and cell therapy. His discoveries have been published in leading journals including Nature, Cell, Cell Stem Cell and Science Translational Medicine. Dr. Reddy is also an accomplished entrepreneur and biomedical innovator. In his role as medical director for Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, he advises faculty and university administration on enhancing the impact of discoveries through company creation and corporate partnerships. A member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dr. Reddy serves on boards and committees in the organizations. He is a former American Society of Plastic Surgeons alternate delegate to the American Medical Association. In his leadership, scholarship and clinical efforts, Dr. Reddy — who has received numerous accolades from professional societies — seeks to integrate science and medicine for the benefit of patients.
