September 1, 2011, marked the season's first tropical storm and the opening of The Midway on Freret Street. The storm came and went, however The Midway hasn't stopped rolling. It's based on the idea that deep dish pizza and a great neighborhood bar would be a success among the unique tastes of New Orleanians. With the help of many friends (too many to mention) and under the backdrop of two Mexican wrestlers (literally) the Midway was born. We have imported a family recipe from the finest deep dish pizza restaurant in Virginia and we continue their tradition of using only the best, freshest ingredients. Luckily, we convinced Fine Dining Dave to come out of retirement; his incredible and inventive salads and appetizers are a perfect compliment to the pizza. The bar has taken on a life of its own, owing to terrific servers and a wide selection of beer, wine and liquor. Our talented friends have filled the walls with their art. We couldn't have found a better crew of people.
