Founded in 1980, the David Wade Correctional Center, also known as DWCC, is a medium-security state prison in northern Louisiana. The center has an operational capacity of more than 1,160 offenders. It maintains a medical department that provides health care services for offenders. The David Wade Correctional Center works with a team of over 800 staff members. It also operates the DWCC Mental Health and Social Services Department, which provides individual and group counseling, family planning and parental education services. The center is accredited by the American Correctional Association s Commission on Accreditation. The David Wade Correctional Center is a unit of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections.
