Dr. Michael Cassell earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa’s College of Medicine. He completed his residency at UMKC School of Medicine’s Department of Ophthalmology, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Cassell practiced his medical and surgical retinal fellowship at the Vitreoretinal Foundation in Memphis, Tenn., where he assisted in more than 1,500 vitreoretinal cases. Dr. Cassell is board-certified in ophthalmology and licensed to practice in both Kansas and Missouri. His special clinical interests include age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy and vitreoretinal surgery. He supervises clinical trials at Sabates Eye Centers and at the Vision Research Center of Kansas City.
