Located in Manhattan, Kan., the K-State Family Center was started in a church. It features a classroom, computer laboratory, play and group therapy areas, and family and individual therapy rooms with one-way mirrors and videotaping equipment. The center offers educational programs for parents, as well as relationship and behavioral adjustment counseling and divorce and separation adjustment training services. It also provides family, trauma and play therapies for children, youth, adults and senior citizens. Additionally, the K-State Family Center offers mediation and mental health counseling services for single-parent families and assistance to people who suffer from life transitions, chronic illnesses, anxiety and depression. The K-State Family Center is a part of the K-State College of Human Ecology, which offers more than 100 masters, doctoral and certificate programs.
