Built in 1929 as the Longfellow Elementary School, this landmark building is currently used as Downers Grove Grade School District 58's technology, media and maintenance center.
Longfellow Center also hosts meetings of the District 58 school board on the second Monday of each month from September through May. During the summer months, the board meets in the air-conditioned Administrative Service Center.
In observance of its 80th anniversary in 2009, the Longfellow Center was named a local historic site by the Downers Grove Historical Society.
