Lateral Edge was started with the goal of giving athletes of all ages and skills a direct way to become faster and quicker on their feet. We've been using the slide board for decades but there has never been a high energy class on it as there's an initial hurdle in engaging secondary muscles to balance on the board. We work with our clients to quickly become comfortable within just a couple sessions. Our workout program is tough but whether you're trying to gain speed, lose weight and add muscle, or tone your glutes and abs, we're the best around.
Specialties
How we're different: We focus on lateral movement. Some sports require lateral strength to be faster, but every sport requires lateral strength in order to be agile. It's our mission to teach a high energy fitness class that uses the slide board properly and gives an edge for our clients. We encourage anyone who wants a great full body workout to try our program. Our instructors are Freddy Johnson and Carla Pentimone. Carla grew up in Chicago figure skating, playing hockey and soccer. She played Division I hockey at the University of Wisconsin where she trained on the slide board during the regular season and the off season. She still coaches youth hockey on the north shore and is currently training for an Iron Man in September. Carla graduated from the University of Wisconsin and then got her masters from Northwestern University. She currently works at the Chicago Tribune.
