Established in 1923, Central Florida Zoological Park is a resource center a variety of wildlife. It offers shaded, winding boardwalks and paths, and a range of wildlife, such as elephants, cheetahs, mandrills, kookaburra, venomous reptiles and nonvenomous snakes, lizards and frogs, Puerto Rican crested toads, Amur leopards, venomous king cobra and hyacinth macaws. It also features a butterfly sensory garden that houses a variety of insects. The zoological park also provides conservation and wildlife education programs. A wide range of subject areas, targeting specific grades, may be covered through the zoological park s resources. Programs such as two-to-the-zoo for second-graders and curric-zoo-lum for third-grade students, integrate mathematics, language arts, geography and social science. Its create your own zooventure programs are customized to meet the needs of teachers. Central Florida Zoological Park is located in Lake Monroe, Fla.
