Motor Vehicle Division

The Dover Division of Motor Vehicles is a part of the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The parent agency monitors and processes more than 850,000 registered vehicles and over 630,000 licensed drivers. Its vehicle services include uninsured motorist audits, vehicle inspection, data management, and registering and titling vehicles. The Dover Division of Motor Vehicles offers various specialty and vanity license plates. The parent agency also serves automobile and truck dealers by licensing dealers and processing dealer title work. Its driver services include educating, testing, licensing, monitoring and improving Delaware's licensed drivers. The division's suspension and revocation sections handle drivers whose licenses are suspended and revoked for various violations of Delaware law. The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles operates a motor fuel tax unit, which monitors retail fuel stations and issues overweight vehicle permits.
