History
The James Pharmacy Bed & Breakfast takes its name from a family of pharmacists who settled in Old Saybrook in 1898 and opened the town's first drugstore. This lineage produced one of the first African-American woman to graduate pharmacy college, and Connecticut's first African-American female pharmacist.
Specialties
Re-Opened - June 2017! A community cornerstone - having served as a general store in 1790, the town's very first pharmacy in 1877, and later a soda fountain where townspeople would gather. Now, this historic building has been lovingly repurposed into an elegant Bed & Breakfast with hints of Europe throughout. Three guest rooms have been entirely renewed - featuring four-poster beds with luxurious Italian linens, modern oversized showers redone in sparkling subway tile, and gas fireplaces.
