Steven M. Greenwood, Attorney At Law Steven M. Greenwood began the practice of law in 1979 as in-house counsel to one of the largest real estate land developers in Ventura County, focusing on subdivision, construction, leasing, general/limited partnership formation/syndication, and corporate matters. Thereafter, Mr. Greenwood became corporate counsel to a national payroll processing organization, where he was responsible for its entire franchising program, as well as attendant corporate, contract, litigation and general business matters. In 1987, Mr. Greenwood took the position of general counsel to a Capitol Records affiliated music production/publishing house where he was actively involved in various aspects of music contract drafting and administration involving audio and video production, licensing, marketing, distribution and corporate law. In 1994, Mr. Greenwood joined Cigna Financial Advisors (now known as Sagemark Consulting) adding a financial and estate planning dimension to his practice, becoming licensed in insurance and investment counseling. During this period, Mr. Greenwood focused primarily upon older, affluent business owners, whose legal and financial needs were beyond the norm, bringing much needed counsel to a woefully underserved market niche. Whether it was explaining the mechanics of a living trust, how life insurance might assist in achieving their goals, or helping his business owning clients address the issues of business succession, forthright, easy to understand communication was his forte. Mr. Greenwood's current focus is upon fundamental to advanced estate planning, business succession planning, asset protection, and general business formation and facilitation. Mr. Greenwood earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1972, and thereafter received his law degree with honors from the University of La Verne, San Fernando Valley Law Campus. Steve is a past Board member of several prominent organization, including the Ventura County United Jewish Communities, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), the Optimists, and is also a past president of the Oxnard Jaycees. Steve currently sits on the Board of Advisors for The Executives/Jewish Home for the Aging, is a member of the Board of Directors for Casa Pacifica (Camarillo, CA), and is a member of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ventura County. He is listed in several Who's Who publications and is the recipient of numerous personal achievement awards.
