History
The Industry creates ambitious world premiere productions that expand the traditional definition of opera, merging artistic disciplines and building new paradigms for collaboration. The Industry aims to engage a wide demographic and cultivate curiosity through the unexpected audience experience. The Industry was founded in 2010 by Director Yuval Sharon and launched with a free performance at the Royal/T Gallery in March 2011. Crescent City, involving six visual artists building an immersive cityscape in a 25,000 square foot warehouse in Atwater Village, premiered in May 2012 for 11 performances, earning critical and public acclaim. In June 2013, The Industry launched First Take, a free, large-scale workshop of six new works-in-progress presented at the Hammer Museum. Invisible Cities represents the second full production of the company and promises to take the company to another level of success and international attention.
