Founded in 2001, the Summit Charter Academy provides educational programs to more than 400 students in kindergarten through grade eight. Its academic curriculum includes humanities, visual arts, English, science, music, art, physical education, reading, writing, social studies and math. The school offers the English Language Learners, Kids Works and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs. The Summit Charter Academy encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities, including student council and band and variety shows. The school conducts special education classes for students with disabilities. Located in Modesto, Calif., the Summit Charter Academy is a part of Aspire Public Schools, which is a nonprofit organization that governs several public charter schools.
