Lucky's Joint Barber Shop is a place where boys can be boys, and boxing is the most popular topic of conversation. The building itself has been a barber shop since 1948, making it the second oldest barber shop location in El Cerrito. The wallpaper is still the original raised-velvet design from the 40's. The barber pole is the original from when the first barber shop opened here.
"Lucky," or Jesus, runs this joint now as of the last seven years, playing salsa music and serving a diverse clientele. He used to get his own hair cut here as a kid when it was under previous ownership. From fades to mohawks, business professional to hipster, practically any cut can be done here. Some of Lucky's clients come all the way from Hayward and Fairfield to get their hair cut and shoot the breeze.
Walk-ins are welcome, but you might want to call for an appointment.
