Nationally SCORE’s 370 chapters are a 100% all-volunteer, non-profit 501(C) organization with over 13,000 members that was founded in 1964. SCORE is an acronym that stands for Service Corp of Retired Executives, however it is rarely used in that manner since most members now are either semi-retired or working executives and managers who want to give back to their business community. Ventura County Chapter #255 has been serving the area for more than forty years and currently has 58 members who volunteer their time answering phones, providing free face-to-face counseling, on-site mentoring, participation in on-going workshops and seminars and scheduling appointments in our offices in Westlake and Oxnard. Counseling is also done at virtually every Chamber of Commerce in Ventura County.
