History

The space was built out for several years prior to opening. It was born of multiple frustrations we were experiencing in Los Angeles - the lack of truly VITAL art being shown anywhere - and the fact that everything in this town seems to shut down early (not to mention the fact that any art making community seemed hard to find). At some point we decided to simply stop complaining about the situation and actually DO something about it. And here we are. We encourage community and interaction. We offer workshops and events. Please come interact with us. Tell us what YOU want...! That's what we're here for. Thank you.

Mush is an eclectic retail store that specializes in local art, rare jewelry, furniture, home accessories, unique gifts, and antiques. The store is dedicated to bringing back the colorful and fresh image that was characteristic of Hollywood in its heyday. It also offers design consultations for homes, offices and stores. Its window designers have worked with clients such as Calvin Klein, Prada and Barney's.

Historyde Plume builds on more than twenty-five years of experience in the international arts community. Co-founder Maggie Devers was previously the director of a contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles. She has worked in Europe as an art advisor and auction administrator with specialties in Russian and Greek art. She trained at Christie's London and holds a master's degree in art history from the University of Glasgow. Co-founder Kieva Campbell has worked as a founder, curator and gallery associate in Los Angeles and New York. She is an artist and designer with work featured nationwide. She received a degree in fine art from the Pratt Institute.Specialtiesde Plume selects for exhibition artists at the forefront of their method: painting, sculpture, street art, printmaking, and installation. Our aim is to present works of innovation and quality that will resonate one hundred years from today.
