Opened in 2015 by a brother/sister team of native San Franciscans, Ben Thai Cafe strives to provide great food in an atmosphere that is fun, contemporary, and very San Francisco. They had this to say about their restaurant: "Our mother, Lek, grew up in Bangkok's Chinatown. In the 1980s she and her husband came to San Francisco to open their first Thai restaurant. At work she made traditional Thai food, but at home she'd mix Thai and American food with the Chinese food of her childhood and the occasional Indonesian dish for our Dad, another first-generation Thai. Our restaurant is a celebration of the cuisine that we love and grew up with, a blend of Thai favorites, Chinese home cooking, and a little Indonesian flair. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have."

The place is very welcoming. Nice music. Service was wonderful. We had May and she was friendly. The food was delicious, would definitely recommend trying the Golden bags and the murder wings.

I ordered To go. The murder wings were soggy (which I kind of expected), but also the flavor wasn't that good. Thai wings are usually the best but I was definitely underwhelmed. Flavor, texture,...
