History

Owner, Lynn Chan, spent most of her life in the fashion industry working with multiple brand names including Forever 21, Quiksilver and Lane Bryant to name a few. Despite working in the fashion industry for so long and having just turned 50 years old, she longed for some excitement. With courage from her family and friends, Lynn jumped at an opportunity. Lynn was a refugee during the Vietnam War. She tells of her and her 8 siblings escaping on a boat to multiple countries before finally settling in SGV, specifically in Monterey Park. Vietnamese coffee is AK Fresh Roast's specialty because she spent her childhood in Vietnam and wants everyone to know how simple but strong, enjoyable yet different Vietnamese coffee can be. She envisions that her coffee will bring people from all backgrounds together telling their stories of hardship and love while having a sip of Vietnamese coffee. Lynn's sudden movement to take on coffee reveals that it is never too late to change life up a bit.

Specialties

AK Fresh Roast specializes in Vietnamese Coffee using only the strongest and darkest beans. Unlike many other Vietnamese coffee shops that use phin to brew their coffee, AK Fresh Roast uses the espresso machine. This method of bringing robust Vietnamese coffee is used to make sure that each and every single cup of coffee is made fresh and specifically for you. AK Fresh Roast also hopes to introduce many other Southeast Asian flavors and ingredients to everyone.
