Washington County Detention Center, located in Fayetteville, Ark., is a division of the Washington County Sheriff s Office. The county is one of the largest in the state with more than 150,000 people. The office of the sheriff is a constitutional office, and its functions include serving the six circuit and chancery courts in the county as well as maintaining a county jail to house prisoners. The office is in charge of providing law enforcement services to the residents of the county.
