Founded in 1971, American Postal Workers Union is one of the world s leading postal unions representing over 220,000 employees and retirees of the United States Postal Service as well as 2,000 private sector mail workers. A democratic organization, the union's members comprise of clerks, maintenance employees, motor vehicle service workers and support services employees. The organization is involved in advancing the interests of its members and their families, protecting workers rights and addressing workplace concerns, such as safety and health. American Postal Workers Union is an affiliate of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and United Network International (UNI).
